Big Sky 200 - 2025

This year, Austin entered into the 4 lap series race and the 12 hour endurance race.

Tech & qualifying were Thursday. After tech, prerunning started. Emily suited up to get some seat time with Austin and did a loop! She loved it!

Right before qualifying at 3:00 Christians car wouldn't start. Austin got it going, but his brake lights weren't working. There wasn't a way to fix it before his race Saturday. (Added to the to do list when we get home!) After qualifying on Friday without any clown shoes (this is where Austin flipped last year) we were ready to race on Saturday.

The weather Saturday was a bit wild! Austin was keeping a strong, healthy, and competitive pace about 1 hour 8-9 minutes per lap. Rain came down pretty heavy on lap 2, creating a muddy MESS! The car felt great though, pits were smooth under 2 minutes per pit stop.

About 5 miles out from pit ending lap 3- the Turbo blew up. Unfortunately that ended that race for Austin. He was towed in- and the Turbo S was SMOKING!  Luckily  it didn't catch fire (like in November). Austin is VERY perplexed why he's having turbo issues. He replaced the turbo in November with a brand new one. No issues at The Mint in March or High Desert in May. In total, only about 12 hours on the turbo- maybe 500-600 miles. Luckily, no other damage! In the race world, that's a win right there!

Austin is doing some heavy research, and stripping the car down between Big Sky & Buffalo Chip to see if there's an underlying problem that could be causing this. The turbos are definitely meant to last longer than 500-600 miles!

In the mean time, that turbo has been sent off to the manufacture to take a look, a new on will be installed before Buffalo Chip, and we hope Turbo issues are a thing of the past! We are confident that if the turbo hadn't blown, he would have kept his great pace and finished the 12 hour with pretty high standings. I guess we will find out next year!

On Saturday, Christian raced. He was up against the Mav R again, and unfortunately the horsepower in that bad boy was able to take him on the straights. With his restrictor in- he's pretty throttled on speed. His racing was amazing though. The rain from the day before added some fun little elements! He handled muddy corners with ease showing his driving skills. His pace was perfect and his ability continues to improve. If anything, racing that Mav R is only making him a better and more skilled driver!  He earned 2nd place for the race taking home a $60 cash prize and another trophy for his collection!

The restrictor is coming off before Buffalo Chip in July- and we are excited to see how he does!

While in Broadview we picked up the new RS1 for Emily. Battery was bad, so needed a jump to run- which was easy! She was able to ride it around a bit Saturday afternoon and loved it!  Before Buffalo Chip Austin needs to change out the tires (it has 35s on it), install all the coms, wire up the lights, put in nets, order and install a new battery, and do a full fluids check! (Added to the to do list for when we get home! lol)

We're excited to head to Buffalo Chip July 18-19!

Our amazing friends finished the 12 hour! Congrats Shaun U913- and entire team!
